If you have damage to your structure or business, Florida law requires you to protect from further damage, if possible. Make sure you keep receipts and take photos of damage before any temporary repairs are made. Do not throw anything away before the adjuster sees it or authorizes disposal.
Warning: Do NOT sign anything that has wording that ASSIGNS your policy rights to anyone. There are repair scams using Assignment of Benefits (AOB) where you sign a form and it gives the vendor YOUR policy rights. They then try and charge your insurance company outrageous amounts for work. People have ended up losing their homes over this scam.
