Thank goodness I could type (for you younger kids, computers were not widely available at that time).  I met the girl of my dreams and convinced her to marry me.  Later I hired her so I could boss her around LEGALLY.  ECI helps fund Operation Changing Lives and Halifax Habitat for Humanity.

How did I arrive into the world of insurance:

My dad worked for Sears for 42 years. Sears owned Allstate at that time. I was working for a used car dealer after college making $50 a week and I’m sure my dad thought it was going to take me forever to find a “real” job. He was speaking with our neighbor who was the first Allstate agent in Florida. Our neighbor got me an interview at Allstate. I got the job as an underwriter. I worked there 2 years, until starting East Coast Insurors in 1975.

How did I arrive into the world of insurance:

Before I started in the insurance business I was working for the News-Journal in marketing for builders, developers and 1 insurance broker – owner of East Coast Insurors, Inc. And yes, I married the boss. Never thought I would have a job in insurance but here I am 16 years later and loving it.

Being a Tar Heel Girl, I transplanted myself into St Augustine in 1984 working at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. After 10 years of working with deaf students, followed by 6 years as a professional mom, I became a Long-Term Care specialist, eventually ending up in Commercial Lines at ECI in 2005.

How did I arrive into the world of insurance:

A mutual friend of an insurance agency principal introduced me to the insurance world. The agency was looking for a part-time person in their accounting department and I fit the bill as I was only working while my children were in school. In 2008, I found East Coast Insurors through my husband who had been East Coast Insurors’ banker.

Over 30 years ago I got my start in the field as a rater for an insurance company in my home town of Lombard, Illinois. After being a stay-at-home mom for 20 years, I returned to insurance and found East Coast Insurors through a temp agency in 2013 and decided to stay.

Moved to Florida in 2017 to escape the snow and cold of Ohio winters and fell in love with the Ormond Beach community. My background was in banking for 28 years prior to coming over to the field of Insurance. I came to ECI through a temp agency and found my home where I enjoy helping our clients find the best solution for their insurance needs.

How did I arrive into the world of insurance:

As an ECI client since 2009, I contacted Steve who has been my go-to for all things insurance when I found myself a statistic in November 2022 facing a life changing event of looking for a job after 30 years in the transportation industry. I actually reached out to Steve for advice for health insurance when he mentioned an opening in the Commercial Insurance Division.  Once I learned what the job entailed and met the people I would be working with, I grabbed at the opportunity!

Just a simple country girl from North Carolina. I am an avid animal lover and a mom of two grown women who think they are the mother. I love anything outdoors but especially fishing and amusement parks. I am passionate about a lot of things but one thing is helping in our local animal shelters. I donate my time and supplies every chance I get. Sometimes I just go to play with the animals that everyone else just ignores.

How did I arrive into the world of insurance:

My background is in healthcare and emergency services with a little sprinkle of administration. I served as a care assistant for the elderly for 13 yrs. There is nothing more rewarding than helping with those in need.  In my previous job I was an Operations Manager and traveled a bit here and there. But, unfortunately, in October 2023 my employer informed me that they were moving the business to Las Vegas, so I found myself looking for a new career path. I found ECI when looking on Linkedin and seen Randstad had some positions available. I reached out and they put me in contact with ECI. I feel very blessed to have found a home with such an amazing group of people.

Grew up in South Miami.  Driving through the Florida Keys was a weekend must.  Between the Tikis and clear waters is where you would find me unless I was on a Peace River adventure.  From canoeing as a teenager and kayaking as an adult, you can say I love the sunshine and water!!  I have an amazing son, who a few years ago, became a Real Estate Agent.  Proud mom is an understatement!

Before I started with East Coast Insurors, I was in the medical field.  Coding, billing and collections was my forte.  I breathed Health Insurance!!  I then worked several different side jobs until deciding the need to educate myself on another aspect of Insurance. Putting out my resume seemed endless until I got “THE” call.  To sum it up, I got the job here!! I love it!! An amazing company with amazing people.  I’m all about helping take care of you and yours.  Don’t hesitate to call…they don’t call me D-Nice for nothing!!!
